Cherry Creek State Park is a state park in Arapahoe County, Colorado. A scenic oasis in the Denver area offering a plethora of activities for outdoor enthusiasts, both on land and water.
Just a stones throw for Denver residents, the 4,000 acre park has both natural prairie and wetland environment within its 880 acre reservoir.
Aquatic activities includes all kinds of boating including power boats, sail boats, and paddle craft. Rentals are available for jet skis, paddle boards, and kayaks.
The Cherry Creek Marina and Yacht Club offers mooring and catered events and there is an updated boat house overlooking the water that hosts concerts over the summer, serving food and drinks.
Swimming opportunities can be found on the North Eastern side at an imported sand beach. You can find activities for everyone here including facilities for camping, radio-controlled aircraft, picnicking, and there is even a shooting range.
You will find locals on a daily basis bird watching, hiking, cycling, running, fishing and in the winter cross country skiing.
The plains in the summer are filled with chattering prairie dogs.
